Bringing Knowledge to Peruvian Disability Rights Advocates
The Ann Sullivan Center in Lima, Peru works daily to help its students and their communities make the rights of people with disabilities visible to society and the government. This organization is at the forefront of research and education for people with disabilities. The facility was one of the first in the world to receive a Global Disability Rights Library.
COEP Deployment to aid in Cedar Rapids Community Corrections Program
The first prototype Corrections Off-line Education Platform (COEP) - a version of the eGranary Digital Library being developed for use within correctional facilities - will be deployed in a residential facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for at-risk youth and recently-released inmates operated by the Community Corrections Improvement Association.
Director of the Centro Ann Sullivan del Peru visits WiderNet
Dr. Liliana Mayo, founder of the Centro Ann Sullivan del Peru (CASP) – a facility that provides services to individuals with disabilities and their families - made a surprise visit to WiderNet. Her organization was one of the first in the world to receive a prototype eGranary with the Global Disabilities Rights Library.
Dr. John Flomo visits WiderNet
WiderNet had another important visitor this month. Dr. John Flomo of the University of Liberia stopped by to take a look at the eGranary in person while on a research visit to Iowa City on April 19. He is compiling a curriculumfor masters students at the University of Liberia and is looking for materials to complete that curriculum. Dr. Flomo received a full demonstration of the eGranary Digital Library and expressed the eGranary would be very useful for masters students at his university. WiderNet looks forward to future collaboration with Dr. Flomo and his project.

- May 26 - June 9: Director Cliff Missen has been invited to give a presentation at the Standing Conference of Eastern, Central and South Africa Library and Information Associations about digital librarianship. The conference will include several library and information associations in Africa.
- May 27: USICD Program Manager Ellis Ballard and Director Cliff Missen will train a new Regional Representative, Angela Lak in Uganda.
- Early June: eGranary evaluations and Global Disability Rights Library installations and evaluations in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
- June 21 - 26: Director Cliff Missen will travel to Los Angeles to present the eGranary at the American Library Association's annual meeting.
