| Program Title | Used Computers and Networking Equipment |
| Type of Program | Donations |
| Description | Certain types of quality ICT resources can sometimes be expensive
and hard to find for our partner
universities in Africa, India, and elsewhere. Fortunately,
the staff of the WiderNet Project is very savvy about purchasing ICT
goods at significant discounts and we've developed a system to pass the
savings on to our partners.
In the used computer and networking equipment sector of The WiderNet Project, our staff purchases and transports supplies to Africa, reselling them at the exact price originally paid. That way, our partner university spend only a fraction of the normal cost to source and ship the items. In several cases, we have also helped universities use their product warranties by transporting damaged items back to the U.S. for repairs. |
| Background Information | We provide this service to further the interests of our partners.

have more funds to invest in staff, services and resources like the
eGranary Digital Library. With these afforded accoutrements, their
networks can truly flourish.
