Jason is working as a Database Programmer at The WiderNet Project. He is also an Informatics major at the University of Iowa who will finish his undergraduate degree this fall. He worked with WiderNet on several database projects before becoming a staff member.

Suzanne, a Dutch native, holds a Master's degree in drama. After working as a theater production manager and being responsible for the internal and external communication for a public health service, she left The Netherlands and is currently living in Iowa City. Suzanne is looking forward to learning more about public relations and helping out with all other interesting projects at The WiderNet Project.

Karen has a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Southern California and an M.A. in Foreign Affairs/Overseas Operations from the East-West Center in Hawaii. She has also studied at Cambridge University in England and at Keio University in Tokyo, Japan. Her administrative experience is in both university administration and arts administration and for 11 years she was at the University of Iowa as Associate Director of The Center for International and Comparative Studies. She and her husband have been in New York City for the last seven years and have just returned to Iowa. In New York she was a Development Director and a Development Consultant for several arts organizations. She is also a potter.

Jay is a student at the University of Iowa majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics and minoring in Physics. He has worked with Professor Michael Flatte in the Physics Department on optoelectronic and magnetic properties of semiconductors and has worked with PHP and PostgreSQL. At WiderNet, he is a computer technician/programmer.

Angela volunteers for WiderNet remotely from England, where she facilitates a partnership with the Institute of Development Studies to increase usage of the eGranary. She is also contributing to WiderNet's program development through a gender lens. Angela's work as a Digital Librarian with WiderNet began in 2001. Within a year, she had compiled the first version of the eGranary, containing approximately one million files (mostly full-length books and journals). In 2003 she received a BA in Global Studies and a BA in Women's Studies from the University of Iowa. She now has two Master's degrees also: Master of Nonprofit Management (Regis University, 2007) and MA Gender and Development (University of Sussex, 2010).

Lindsay is a senior at the University of Iowa studying English and Communication Studies. Outside of school and WiderNet Lindsay holds a variety of campus leadership roles, including her position as Vice President of Marketing and fouding member of Student in Advertising, and Campus Events Director for the 2009 Homecoming Council. In the future Lindsay hopes to continue working with non-profit organizations.

Miranda came to the University of Iowa from Southwest Michigan and is a junior majoring in Interdepartmental Studies. Miranda worked for Mid-West Family Broadcasting, a local radio station in Michigan, for over eight years and worked her way up to an Account Executive in Sales and Marketing. With Miranda’s desire to further her career, she returned to school to finish her Bachelor’s degree. Miranda has a passion for marketing and hopes to continue in this field after graduation.

Cliff has over 20 years professional experience in computers, networking, multimedia design, and applications development. At The WiderNet Project, he combines this with his long-term interest in international development. His first visit to Africa was with a medical team in 1982, and he continues to teach and promote appropriate water well drilling technology through the U.S. non–profit organization Wellspring Africa. "I want to see the day when African technicians -- so steeped in understanding of ICT technology -- bend and twist these tools to create appropriate and affordable communications systems for the most rural villages in Africa."

Brent got his Bachelor's degree in Biology from Kalamazoo College. During his time at Kalamazoo, he also spent nine months in Dakar, Senegal, on foreign study. After college, he had several adventures including teaching English in Japan and hiking the entire Appalachian Trail. Since then, he has obtained a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois. He primarily works on the eGranary project helping to design and build the next version of the digital Library.
