1.0 Establishment

The University of Jos computer workshop was established in
September, 1998 to provide a convenient, first-class facility for
the servicing of the computers and computer peripherals belonging
to the University. It is the first standard and modern computer
workshop in the city of Jos and in entire Nigerian Universities.

2.0 Major Activities of the Workshop

The workshop is charged with the following responsibilities:

  1. To repair faulty and broken-down computers and their peripherals in the University.
  2. To carry a routine maintenance regularly on UNIJOS computers to avoid equipment breakdown.
  3. To upgrade low graded computers in the university to modern, high capacity computers.
  4. To assemble and build computers for the University of Jos.
  5. To maintain a database of computers and their parts in the Centre.
  6. To assist in networking and maintaining network facilities in the University.

3.0 Resources

The workshop has a good based human resources who are professional in the field. There are three professional engineers, one youth corper, two industrial attachees any many interns who work daily in the workshop.  The workshop is also well equipped with modern diagnostic tools.

4.0 Achievements:

The workshop since inception has made some remarkable achievements.Very many broken-down computer, monitors, UPS, Printers in the university have been reactivated.It has also built and upgraded many systems and is assisting in computers training, maintenance, repairs and usage.

5.0 Looking Ahead

The workshop goal is to be a centre of excellence and reference, a technical pride to the University of Jos.
