Twenty-seven UNIJOS students, from various disciplines, have spent four months in an intensive internship program. Selected from a pool of more than 60 students who volunteered for this demanding program (15 hours a week, no pay), the interns have distinguished themselves in many areas. They have assisted with running the campus email systems and servers, writing database programs, creating Web pages, wiring up network connections, setting up systems, installing software, repairing computers, creating images and animations for the World Wide Web, and assisting in the computer labs and classes.

The interns meet as a group once a week for in-service training provided by Computer Centre staff or visiting experts, while each intern meets weekly with their supervisor for direction and feedback.

This program, which is unique to UNIJOS, demonstrates the significant contribution that students can make to any university's digital endeavors. They have the talent, the drive, and, most importantly, the time to develop expertise in new areas. Both parties benefit: the university receives the abundant fruits of intern's labors while the interns gain valuable hands-on, real-world experience.
