Discussion Groups dealing with Computers and Networks in International Development


This is an almost random collection of list servers which are related to Computers and Networks in International Development.

Remember that all lists have two addresses: one for administrative stuff, like subscribing, unsubscribing, and finding out who has subscribed; and another for posting messages that will be replicated for every member of the list. Sending subscription messages to the wrong address will only annoy the other members of the list and give you a bad rep. In this document we only supply the administration address. Once subscribed, the server will return a message with instructions on how to post to the list, unsubscribe, and set your preferences.

As you can see in the instructions below, each list asks for slightly different information when you subscribe. This is largely due to the differences between the brands of list servers (LISTSERV and MAJORDOMO being the most common) although some list administrators may simply want more information from subscribers. AFRIK-IT
is a quality unmoderated discussion list operated by the African Network of IT Experts and Professionals (ANITEP). The list is intended to provide a forum for serious discussion (academic or otherwise) on IT/Telematics-related (including data communications and telecommunications) issues and developments concerning Africa.

African Networks for Health Research & Development

The main purpose of the conference is exchange of information between the different networks active in Health Research for Development in the Eastern and Southern African Region. By this better collaboration between the networks is expected in the fields of capacity building, planning and conducting research, transformation of research recommendations into action, etc.

Topics for discussion are:

Advocacy for health research & development
Priority setting
Capacity building
Resource mobilisation
Evaluation
Dissemination of results
Utilisation of research findings
Networking

The conference should also serve as a forum for announcing meetings, training courses and other events of interest to the networks.

is a public, electronic forum (mailing list) on the subject: "Technology Transfer in International Development."  It is an online discussion forum operated by Volunteers in Technical Assistance (VITA). VITA thus encourages the exchange of ideas and information on a wide range of issues and topics included under
