World Book Encyclopedia Project
Nigerian universities have acquired digital licenses and printed encyclopedias.

Employing Satellite Data Broadcasting
With support from USAID's Leland Initiative, we are developing a protocol to deliver up-to-date information to educational institutions.  We are also training librarians at partner universities in Africa in the art of digitizing their materials.

eGranary Digital Library
eGranary Digital Library teams are expanding and improving both the content and delivery of the digital library.  Beyond adding to the current collection, more specialized collections are being assembled in the areas of public health, the sciences, and geography.  Specialized collections will also be created dealing with more development issues.  These areas are certain to change and grow as we receive feedback concerning what is needed and wanted by our partners.  Content and functionality are also being added to aid professors in planning courses and curriculum around the eGranary Digital Library content.

Those seeking more information about the library may contact: librarian@widernet.org.

The Future of the eGranary Digital Library

Develop Training Programs for Digitizing African Content and Developing African Curriculum
Our partners are looking for training and consulting in low-cost methods to digitize their materials to share with colleagues at other African universities.  We are looking for volunteers and funding to help build the human capacity to work with the digitized materials in the eGranary Digital Library and help make them more relevant and useful on subscriber campuses.

Expand the eGranary Digital Library to Include Other Regions
Mostly this is a matter of updating our databases and returning to our current set of authors and publishers to redefine their permission to include other developing countries.

Expand the eGranary Digital Library to Include Other Languages
We are looking for volunteers interested in collecting digital educational materials in languages other than English.

Develop eGranrary Digital Library Potential for Other Sectors
Once we have developed and refined the protocol, the possibilities are limitless: this technique can be used to deliver digital information to primary schools, health clinics, government offices, public libraries, etc.

Develop Topic-Specific eGranary Digital Library Collections
We see a need for smaller topic-specific collections (in medicine, public health, law, primary and secondary education, etc.) that could fit on desktop computers or hand held devices.
