On this page I have organized the technical materials in the order in which they should be learned.  I did not include the end-user programs on this page because typically you only learn about the programs you plan on using.  The material is grouped into three categories:  Beginner, Experienced, and Advanced.  I have only included information on this page that that I feel will be most useful to you.  Feel free to skip over items that you already understand.

Beginner

• Computer Handbook - This is an excellent handbook for those who are just getting started in using computers.  It covers concepts from using a mouse to the basics of Windows.
• PC Parts - This is a good handbook that covers each of the components of a computer.
• Basics Of Computer Buying - This buying information is good in that it draws attention to differences in motherboards, but it is already outdated.  There are much faster computers now.
• Final Computer Buying Checklist - This is a source that will help you understand the specifications of a computer.  However, it is already somewhat outdated though because there are now computers faster then 1000 MHz.
• Basic Computer Maintenance - Knowing how to maintain a computer is crucial in keeping your computer functioning properly at all times.
• History Of The Computer World Part 1 - This link and the next one are good resources for learning about the history of computers.
• History Of The Computer World Part 2
• Computer Upgrades - What Does Your Computer Need? - This resource is great for knowing what you can upgrade on your computer.
• Computer Upgrades - Processors - This is a good resource for helping you become acquainted with processors, however a processor is rarely upgraded without just buying a whole new machine all together.
• Windows98 Second Edition - Learning Windows 98 basics will help you understand Windows 95, 98, and ME much better.  All three of these programs are very similar.  To get information more specific to your version find your version in the "Categories" page.
• Windows 2000 - These materials will teach you the basics of Windows 2000.
• Overview of the Internet - This handbook will teach you Internet basics and what the Internet is made up of.
• The Future Of The Internet - This is a basic overview of what is already happening with the Internet and predictions for the future.
• Which Is The Fastest Internet Access - This is an overview of different kinds of Internet and network connections and there speeds.
• Navigating the Web with Internet Explorer 5 - This is a great tutorial on how to optimize your use of Microsoft's Internet Explorer.  I recommend this highly.
• Wireless Internet Access - More Than Just Cell Phones - Here is an overview of the possibilities of wireless Internet.
• Outlook Express Tips - This is an overview of the email program Outlook Express.

Experienced

• A+ Certification Materials - A+ certification materials cover the hardware aspects of computing.
• Network+ Certification Materials - Network+ certification materials cover the networking aspect of computing.
• On-Line Lectures - Slide shows made by Cliff Missen, covering the basics of the Internet and networking computers.
• Internet - Included here is a lot more in-depth information about the Internet.
• Optimizing Your Video Card - This is an overview of how you can change your video card settings.
• Common Error Messages - This is a list of common error messages your computer may give you and what they mean.
• Website Construction Part I, Part II - Presented here are the basics of how to build a webpage using HTML.  These days more websites are built through programs such as FrontPage and Dreamweaver but we were not able to acquire training materials on these topics.

Advanced

• How Processors Are built - Through this link and the next you can become more familiar with what goes into making a processor.

• Understanding File Allocation Tables - This material covers how your computer stores data.
• Linux - Linux is another operating system that is different then Microsoft's Windows.  It is not as user-friendly but can be a much more stable operating system especially for setting up web and network servers.
